Start your day with a city tour of Chennai. Visit the Government Museum and National Art Gallery, where you can explore an impressive collection of historical artifacts and art (note: the museum is closed on Fridays). Afterward, drive to the coastal village of Mahabalipuram, approximately a 2-hour journey. Mahabalipuram is renowned for its 8th-century Shore Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases exquisite ancient architecture.
