The tale of Ramayana, deeply ingrained in Hindu mythology, extends its influence beyond the borders of India. Sri Lanka, with its rich cultural heritage, hosts a captivating Ramayana tour that intertwines pilgrimage with exploration. Embark on this 8-day journey to uncover the sacred sites and scenic landscapes that echo the epic saga of Lord Rama.

Upon arrival at Colombo airport, you will be transferred to Chilaw, a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. Your first visit will be to the Munneswaram Hindu Temple, a significant Ramayana tour site in Sri Lanka. This is where King Rama prayed to Shiva after committing the grave crime of Brahmahasti. Shiva blessed Rama and advised him to install and pray to four lingams at five places to rid himself of the dosham. Next, you will visit the Manavari Hindu Temple, the first place where Lord Rama installed and prayed to the Shiva lingam, now named Ramalingam. This site is another important stop on the Ramayana tour. After these visits, you will transfer to Anuradhapura, a journey of about 3 hours. Dinner and an overnight stay will be arranged in Anuradhapura.

After checking out, you will visit the Anuradhapura Ancient City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient stupas and reservoirs, symbolizing the glorious Sinhalese Buddhist civilization. After spending about 2 hours here, you will transfer to Trincomalee. In Trincomalee, you will visit the Thirukoneswaram Temple, believed to be built by sage Agasthyar under Lord Shiva's instructions, impressed by King Ravana's devotion. This temple is unique as it was built by the lord for his devotee. You will also visit Lover's Leap and enjoy a sightseeing city tour including other attractions in Trincomalee. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at a hotel in Trincomalee.

After checking out, you will explore further attractions in Trincomalee before transferring to Kandy. Enroute, you will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest, best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. You will also visit a spice garden in Matale and have lunch. Upon reaching Kandy, you will visit the Tooth Relic Temple and enjoy a sightseeing city tour. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at a hotel in Kandy.

Post breakfast enjoy a sightseeing city tour in Kandy, including a visit to the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala and the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kandy. The rest of the day will be at leisure at your hotel in Kandy. In the evening, you will enjoy a cultural show in Kandy, which is held daily at 5.30 PM. This day is designed to provide some leisure time during your Sri Lanka Ramayana tour. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at your hotel in Kandy.

After breakfast transfer to Nuwara Eliya, a journey of approximately 2 hours. Enroute, you will visit the Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple, believed to be where Hanuman searched for Sita Devi. This temple is a key Ramayana site in Sri Lanka. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the area. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

On the sixth day of your tour, you will visit the Sita Amman Temple and the Ashoka Vatika, now known as the Hakgala Botanical Gardens in Nuwara Eliya. Afterward, you will transfer to Kataragama, a journey of about 4 hours. Enroute, you will visit the Divurumpola Buddhist Temple, the site where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal Agni Pariksha to prove her chastity. You will also visit the Ravana Water Falls and Ravana Caves, though the latter is not recommended for senior citizens. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in Kataragama.

You will start the day with a visit to the Kataragama Temple before leaving for Colombo. On the way, you will visit the Ussangoda Ramayana Site in Ussangoda National Park, believed to be a torched area used by King Ravana for his Pushpak Vimana. In Galle, you will visit the Rumassala Sanjeevani Mountain and the Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will then transfer to Colombo for an overnight stay.

Your final day will include visits to the Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple in Colombo, the first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamukha form (five faces), and the Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple. According to Ramayana, after King Ravana's death, Vibhishana was crowned by Lakshmana, and this temple is located in the area he ruled. After these visits, you will be transferred to Colombo International Airport, marking the end of your 8-day Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka.
